The Broken is the second song on the 2010 album, Year of the Black Rainbow.

It was the first full track released by the band from this album. It was released on February 9th for purchase on various digital distribution sites. On March 10, 2010, a music video for the song premiered on Myspace. Despite its independent release and accompanying music video, it was not the official first single from the album.

The opening notes of the second guitar solo in this song "hint at" a recurring piece, appearing later in the saga in a modified form on the tracks Everything Evil, God Send Conspirator, The Ring in Return, The Light & the Glass and Keeping the Blade.[1] It should be noted that this is not a direct reprise of this suite, as is seen in the other tracks referenced above.

Lyrics Edit

I'll follow your every move
In a stride that wills disguise
Little marking clue to find
Your red lips speak of painted figures
The teeth of mangled little listeners
The thoughts that hide your rust scissors and hooded men
Swinging honesty across this violence
Obscurity has no hero

The world looks better when you're falling
Grace to comfort enough to crawling
Divided we must, pray for the broken
No one can fix us...
We are, we'll always be, the wronged

blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah...

Your touch seethes of emptiness
The callous tips against the brush
The world's now breaking off to crust

The world looks better when you're falling
Grace to comfort enough to crawling
Divided we must, pray for the broken
No one can fix us...
We are, we'll always be, the wronged

We're conspiring....

Where was your heart when we needed it most?
Live in denial and I'll be your ghost

There is nothing to let go
Only time will let you know
If you're worth anything and you know
Then giving up way too early
Let the axis turn you free
And destroy everything you love

The world looks better when you're falling
Grace to comfort enough to crawling
Divided we must, pray for the broken
No one can fix us...
We are, we are...
We are, we are...
We are, we'll always be, the wronged
